Sarah Longfield: answers the tough and knotty questions from the universe of ask.fm

Kind of a weird question I guess, but do you diet to stay so thin or are you just naturally skinny? I'm naturally just a smaller person, I love eating :) I'm sure it will catch up with me one of these days though haha

After playing 8 string guitar for so long, does play a 6 string feel weird? do you miss the extra strings?‎ Lucas LeCompte It feels super weird! I don't even know what to play when people hand me six strings D:

Do you eat meat?
Yep!

Do you attend college? If not, would you ever want to?
I don't currently attend college, but I'll gladly go if I can find a full ride somewhere!

How long have you been playing bass?

I'm not sure exactly, since whenever I bought that LTD 6 string bass..I think like 5 or 6 months ago

This website really kill time, isn't it?
haha it does. it's great!

how do you make a living from playing music? and how did you get all those endorsement deals?
:) Well the first one I have no answer to. I'm not making a living. I live with my parents, I eat their food, and I'm applying at countless minimum wage jobs and not getting call backs because so are tons of other people haha. As for endorsement deals, it's just a business thing, if you can find a way to reach a wide audience to promote a product you will appeal to companies that offer endorsement deals.

If I may ask, what do you not like about picking?
I am sort of on the same boat, I prefer two hand tapping, sweeping, and legato playing, I HATE alternate picking with a passion I'm not really sure, the pick sort of makes me feel like i'm playing with a prosthetic limb or something you know? Like I'm not actually touching the strings and something feels wrong about that haha

Do you want to have children and get married?
Ah marriage....maybe someday, far far away from anytime soon :P As for children, I would probably adopt if I did, but considering the sort of lifestyle most musicians/artists lead with all of the traveling, inconsistent income/lack of career stability, I wouldn't want to bring a child into that you know?

When was the last time you were in a mosh pit?
When I saw Dillinger Escape Plan a month or two ago! But I managed to squish between some ata cases near the front of the stage as so not to die and still get some sweet, front row phone-video footage.

Any advice for a broke musician trying to produce something?

Patience :c unfortunately. But if you're desperate try using Reaper(which is free) and get a simple, 2 channel used interface on ebay or craigslist ($30-50). I'm also pretty sure line 6 has a free podfarm download of some sort (try: http://line6.com/software/?submit_form=set&name=POD+Farm+2) for guitar tones and whatnot! For drums you can try a free program (like: http://www.meldaproduction.com/plugins/product.php?id=MDrummer+Small) which i've never used but it looks like it would certainly do the job!

Hope that helped!

Slap, pluck, tap, pick, or all of the above?

Everything that doesn't involve using a pick. I haaattteeee picking. I have almost found my way around not ever having to use one, but I haven't quite perfected it yet. Soon >:)

what kinds of guys do you like? I like smart, empathetic, creative guys that have a good laugh and goofy smile :)

Would it be crazy to tell you that I've invented an imaginary rivalry between you and myself in which we battle guitar and compete to see who's better just to motivate myself to practice more? Haha that's awesome!

Bonjour Sarah . Do you like Gojira and France ?
I do! :)
Thoughts on electronic music I love electronic music of all sorts!

Evan Brewer or.. oh, who am I kidding? Evan Brewer. Always Evan Brewer
Do you know any music theory?
I wish! Then I could write all of the things!
Can you make a tutorial on the djent? of course I c@n make teh Dj00nt tutorials eest liek 00 00000 00 1 0000 1 3 00 0 0 100 3
