LAFAYETTE, Calif., (Dec. 19, 2013) – The Women’s International Music Network (The WiMN), producers of the 2014 She Rocks Awards, are proud to announce exclusive performances from The Command Sisters, Gaby Moreno and Malina Moye as part of this year's awards event. Honoring women who stand out in the music industry, the She Rocks Awards takes place Friday, January 24, 2014 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel (Ballroom E) in Anaheim, Calif., during the 2014 NAMM show.
These renowned artists will join in celebrating the achievements of the 2014 She Rocks Awards honorees, who include: drum and percussion icon Sheila E; CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC Janie L. Hendrix, The Gretsch Company Executive Vice President/CFO Dinah Gretsch; celebrated Seymour Duncan pickup winder Maricela "MJ" Juarez; Musicians Institute senior guitar faculty member and Vice President Beth Marlis; West Music Company CEO Robin Walenta; and Grammy-award winning artist Gaby Moreno.
"At the ripe ages of 15 and 18, siblings The Command Sisters have already garnered a publishing deal out of Nashville. Averaging over 100 shows a year, the duo is stealing hearts across the country with their genre-breaking “country with soul” sound.
Fresh off the heels of winning a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, the She Rocks Awards are delighted to feature Gaby Moreno as both an artist performer and award honoree. Born and raised in Guatemala City, Moreno’s versatile, soulful voice helped her to win the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Song of the Year (the first Latin American to do so) as well as an Emmy nomination for writing NBC's Parks and Recreation theme song. In addition, Moreno has toured with Tracy Chapman, Ani DiFranco and more recently, Hugh Laurie.
Flipping a Fender Stratocaster upside-down, acclaimed guitarist Malina Moye fills a void in the entertainment industry. Described as a modern day renaissance woman, she’s one of the few artists able to successfully straddle both the rock and soul genres. Dubbed as the “female Jimi Hendrix” by Guitar World, Moye is carving out her own lane in today’s music scene. Most recently, Moye released "Kyotic," a new single featuring Bootsy Collins.
The 2014 She Rocks Awards marks the second event of its kind. The first took place in January 2013 and honored guitarist Orianthi, songwriter/producer Holly Knight, Mary Peavey of Peavey Electronics, Laura Taylor of Guitar Center, Pauline France of Fender Musical Instruments, Carla Black of Musicians for Equal Opportunities for Women (MEOW) and Tish Ciravolo of Daisy Rock Guitars.
