Deanna Passarella |
My submission for the Talenthouse audition to perform on the Experience Hendrix 2014 Tour.
Deanna Passarella is a self-taught guitarist that has had a life long obsession with music. From a very young age she was surrounded by talented musicians including both grandfathers, her mother and father, as well as being influenced by old recordings from her late uncle. Her father introduced her to the drums early on but it wasn't until she picked up a guitar that Deanna realized she was meant to be a musician. She began playing guitar at 14 with a commitment and passion that was unstoppable
Six months after playing, upon taking a Nashville tour, she told her mother that she would be attending Belmont University as a Commercial Guitar major. At this point she could barely make her way across the neck of the guitar. Deanna spent the next four years relentlessly pursuing her passion for music and in 2007 was admitted as the only female in the guitarist program. She dove head first into the music scene of Music City and began attending weekly jams at an old dive bar with Rudy Wooten of the Wooten Brothers. In early 2008, Deanna was sponsored by RS Custom Guitars and has spent the last four years performing with legendary Red Special at NAMM. In 2010, RS Custom Guitars came out with a new line modeled after her preferences, The Epic Series. During that time she also played with the Nashville based rock outfit, Blackwater James. They released two albums and opened for acts such as Bret Michaels, Queensryche, Stryper, and Saving Abel.
Upon graduating, Deanna toured the southeast with country artist Chase Rice. Playing on bills with seasoned artists such as Joe Nichols, Phil Vassar, Brantley Gilbert, and Love & Theft, Deanna has been fortunate enough to get some road time under her belt. She is a firecracker on the stage, not afraid to allow emotion to show through her fingertips. Her live and studio experience has given Deanna a broad musical vocabulary in which she can apply in a variety of musical settings and genres. Throughout her musical career, Deanna has earned endorsements from RS Custom Guitars, D'Addario, Pedaltrain, Planet Waves, and Steve Clayton, Inc. She has also shared the stage with Vince Gill, Brent Mason, Dan Huff, Billy ward, Billy Thomas, and many more.
Deanna has pushed the musical limits of guitar, vocals, and performance, and captured the attention of the music scene with her spectacular talent and rare showmanship. In the words of the iconic Tom Zutaut, “Deanna truly is the female Slash."

Such a fun song! I had a blast coming up with a solo to play over the outro! I love Jason's ability to infuse straight up rock with country music. Check me out at www.instagram.com/guitarriffdaily for daily guitar licks!
